At 70, Philippa embarked on her third career — creating something she’d long wanted herself: a lightweight, beautifully designed dressing gown that feels good to wear and to give.
With a background as an art teacher, she’s always been inspired by pattern, colour, and nature. When she couldn’t find Australian-inspired gifts that felt both artistic and practical, she decided to design her own. Each print is hand-designed by her, drawing from Australian flora and fauna, and brought to life in collaboration with local craftswomen.
Philippa particularly acknowledges the creative contributions of Monika Holgar who assisted in researching suitable fabrics, creating the paper patterns for the gowns and sewing many iterations before arriving at the final forms.
Made from sustainable Tencel and Viscose, influenced by the form of the Japanese kimono as a blank canvas for artistry and form, her gowns combine comfort, art, and quiet sophistication.
